From Kinsale in Waterville

P1000716 A blue sky in the morning we wake up from a restful sleep. We eat breakfast at the b & b including delicious pancakes drenched in maple syrup topped with bananas and strawberries. The beautiful day immediately puts us in a good mood and there we journeyed to the southwest.

I drive to Kenmare where we stop to stretch your legs. The center of Kenmare is terribly quaint and immerses the visitor in the lively and colorful atmosphere of the typical Irish villages. P1000727 Every shop, pub or restaurant seems to be competing with others to get noticed and ultimately the effect is magically perfect a set of chromatic harmonies.

We continue the road that follows the coast south of Kerry Sneem and stop near a beach to visit indicated a hidden reason "White Sdrand". The white sandy beach overlooking the sea, embraced by a rugged and slippery rocks. The show is indescribable. There's just us and a couple of seagulls. The sun is warm and the wind slaps my face nicely. I feel really at peace with the world.

P1000737 We resumed our journey and we decide to have lunch on the beach between Liss and Glanberg (on N70) where there is' a little place which overlooks the sea. A great fish & chips and a stroll on the beautiful beach. To my surprise I notice a couple of local customers who surf the internet with their laptops. I ran to get my car and within seconds they are networked to one of the most remote beaches in Ireland. P1000773 For an instant contact with the computer takes me back to reality and reminds me of the commitment, work and Italy. Another sip of stout and memories fade away. It 'like crazy in this place you can really lose (in the figurative sense of the word) and phase out all contact with reality.

Continue along the road to Waterville as the sun and the blue sky as leave room for some rain clouds. We are getting ready to shower daily Irish.

From Kinsale to Dingle

IMG_0359 After a wonderful breakfast at the Woodlands-based pancakes and maple syrup Kinsale we are going to leave a little poorer than yesterday: the B & B (quite stylish) cost us more than expected. To hell ... we are still on holiday or not!

IMG_0378 With the benefit of the sun we head to Dingle via Killarney. On the road between Cork and Killarney (more precisely, near Macroom) there is' the visitor center of Prince August. For those not familiar is a factory absolutely handicraft pieces for chess, soldiers and minature generally all made from metal. Entrarti the factory seems to be the kingdom of Santa Claus.

IMG_3161 We continue our journey in the rain that seems to be more and more insistent. After a couple of hours we reach the spectacular and endless beach of Inch (near Dingle). Time for a soup (of the day) and on the beach to feel the kite. The wind is unsustainable and more than once I have taken off from the ground for a foot.

IMG_0393 At the end of the kite is detached from the rope and a kind of hurricane has shot down on the beach.

We recover the kite and we continue towards our goal. We arrived in Dingle where finally we again expect a warm sun and a beautiful rainbow!

IMG_0443 There rinfranchiamo with a nice hot coffee on the veranda of the b & b of today enjoys a beautiful view of the bay.

IMG_0424 We opt for a city walk and hike the hills in front of Dingle from which you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the sole company of a friendly crowd of gulls.

We enjoy the sunset behind the breaking clouds and decide for dinner. We reserve the Old Smoke House.

Dingle offers numerous nightlife and virtually all the pubs (there are thirty) host sessions of traditional music of the highest quality.

After dinner a whiskey digestive Muddy where she performed a duet electric guitar and mandolin remarkable level.

Walking around Kinsale

1 commento August 13, 2007 irlandiamo a comment

IMG_0193 Wrapped and affected by more typical irish weather (rain almost imperceptible) decide to take a walk in the center of Kinsale. The real goal is to choose the restaurant for this evening because we are in the gourmet capital of Ireland, and dinner here we must take it very seriously. IMG_0191

We remain undecided between Crackpots (where we delighted in the past with a plateful of prawns hardly forget) or by Jolas (a very charming restaurant that offers cuisine from the border of Ireland and Eastern Europe). At worst we can opt for a cheaper buffalo burgers from Muddy who will know how to worthily fill our appetite.

On the way to Kinsale

IMG_0179 Last night as we headed to Dublin for the evening we came across a beautiful rainbow. I wonder if in the end there was the pot of gold ...

This morning we woke up early and eat a light breakfast in the company of the cheerful hostess. Around 10 we're ready to move along the first of our holiday and we head towards Kinsale.

The sun greeted us this morning (I assure you that for two days in a row is very rare in these parts). We are struggling a bit to get out of the M50 due to traditional summer jobs expansion.

IMG_0180 The journey continues quiet and let the sun from time to time, the place to the clouds. At about 13 we give ourselves a break for lunch just outside Cork and immediately off again at a time of our destination today.

We arrive at Woodlands B & B where I write. A spectacular home complete with all amenities including wi-fi.
